>New device for Coronary Artery Treatment!


The National Heart Institute (IJN)

The National Heart Institute (IJN) has become the first centre in Malaysia and South East Asia to implant a new stenting device, ‘Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold’ (BVS), to revolutionise the treatment of coronary artery disease.

The new technology has a prospect for positive therapeutic outcomes resulting from its unique ability to treat blocked vessel, potentially restore vessel functions and disappear within approximately two years after implantation.

Malaysia’s expertise in treatment of heart diseases is on par with many of the western countries. Its hospitals, including the well-known National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur, have the best that cardiology and cardiac surgery has to offer. Many, having undergone heart treatment in Malaysia in turn recommend our doctors and facilities to their family and friends. Global Capital & Development, a joint venture consortium tasked with the development of Medini, has announced a deal with Malaysia’s leading healthcare provider, Pantai Group, to develop the Gleneagles Medini Hospital. Three healthcare sub-sectors have been identified to be key drivers of this growth: pharmaceutical, health services – including healthcare travel, specialist care centres and care of seniors – and medical technology products.

Malaysia Healthcare will be participating at the upcoming Hospital Efficiency Asia 2010 from 2 – 3 November in Kuala Lumpur. The summit will bring together senior level experts from hospitals in Asia to share on what actions they have taken to improve patient flow, safety and work flow processes, and the results they have achieved. There will be case studies and interactive panel discussions on the equipment, technology and work flow re-engineering that has been carried out to maximise efficiency.

>Aesthetics Asia 2010 Post Show Report!


Malaysia Healthcare was a partner to the recently concluded Aesthetics Asia Conference and Exhibition 2010. The 2nd edition drew to a successful close in Singapore on the 19th September having doubled the visitors and delegates from the previous edition in 2009. With a packed 3 day programme the event has secured its position as Asia’s largest event for medical aesthetics.

The 2010 edition attracted global leaders in Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Cosmetic Surgery, Anti Aging Physicians and Aesthetic Practitioners to the 3 day meeting where over 120 key opinion leaders presented the latest techniques and procedures for the medical aesthetics sector. Over 500 products were on display in the exhibition with manufacturers and distributors from around the world attending to develop their business in Asia by reaching new customers and
developing new distribution agreements across the region.
